Ok,      here are the basic pieces needed to control the electricity from your turbine or solar panels to safely feed your battery or grid tie inverter.         So your alternator is making the power and the wiring is run directly to your batteries...        If you're making over about 50 watts per big battery in your system you could overcharge your batteries severly reducing their life and possibly even creating a fire so you need a charge controller that can read your battery's voltage and send any excess power to a dump load or shut down your solar panels to protect your system.        These made in the USA charge controllers are the ones I use and the dump loads are well made for many years of heavy duty use.        For more information about how this all works click here to go to my electricity basics page.
